MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA (HBN) — Recently it has been established that getting a Free Gmail Invite has truly become a lost cause. People are doing whatever it takes to get these invites, only to have their personal information scanned by the evil Googlebot, and served “relevant” ads while reading their Gmail.
Gmail is the new email service created by Google, and is currently in Beta testing. With the account you get 1 Gigabyte of storage, and some other cute features.
Google has recently come under a great deal of fire over privacy concerns brought forth by the Anti-Spyware activists. These are the same people circling the WhenU.com headquarters with pitch forks. The e-mail service will serve AdSense ads to the Gmail users based on the content of their email messages, thus requiring the messages to be scanned.
Regardless of these privacy concerns, Gmail remains a hot commodity. People on the website Gmailswap are offering a variety of things in exchange for an invite to Gmail. On the site, you’ll find just people willing to trade just about anything for a chance to be a part of the Uber-Elite Gmail Beta Tester posse.
A recent Swap Request reads “I have decided to Trade My Soul” for a free Gmail invite.
