Hairball News has learned that DreamWorks is developing Shrek into a Broadway musical. The actual donkey in Shrek, formerly played by Eddie Murphy, will be played by an actual donkey.
Acclaimed director Sam Mendes, who is helming Gypsy on Broadway later this season, will likely direct the stage version of Shrek. Sam is a good guy. To research this project, he has decided to paint himself green - like Shrek.
Shrek himself wasn’t available for comment, since his is an ogre. Ogres generally do not exist.
