Erich Wolfgang Korngold is mostly known as a film composer during Hollywood's golden age, from his reknown scores for such films as ROBIN HOOD starring Errol Flynn and A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM, but little is known about his life in Europe beforehand. In the years before Hollywood beckoned, he had become the musical sensation in Europe in the 1920s and ADVENTURES OF A WUNDERKIND, a documentary about his life, covers many of these different aspects of Korngold's career. Countless home movies, photographs and private tapes are presented, along with a ten minute montage of extracts from his Warner Brothers films. Additionally, A PORTRAIT AND A CONCERT presents conductor Hugo Wolff showing us two pieces of classical music that Korngold wrote while scoring for Hollywood: a cello concerto and a violin concerto.
