All My Sons

Miller deliberately tried to aim this play at a broad audience. Joe Keller manufactures engine parts for the Air Force; he has sent them defective parts, and as a result 21 pilots died. Joe has let his partner take the blame for it. Joe's oldest son, Larry, a pilot, is missing and presumed dead, although he was not flying one of the defective planes. Joe's younger son Chris is determined to set the truth free at all costs. This play won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award in 1947, over The Iceman Cometh by Eugene O'Neill.
