This so-called mosaic novel integrates several previously published science-fiction stories with fresh material to form a series of intertwining narratives. The author, Richard Bowes, takes what in other hands would be a tired science fiction concept--the adventures of a military organization that polices the flow of various alternate timelines--and reinvents and reinvigorates it with grace and poetry. The Greek gods battle each other for control of the timelines, using their mortal servants to carry on the fight. These servants include the Time Rangers, who serve Apollo; Ted Daw, Death`s Godson; Lady Olivia Wexford, Dionysos`s consort and leader of the violently riotous Bacchae; and the focus of their current struggle, blueblood playboy Timothy MacCauley, who has the potential to become the President of the United States.
