The Central Park Jogger case clearly inspired this 17th installment in the Butch Karp/Marlene Ciampi legal thriller series. Twelve years ago, Liz Tyler, a young white woman out jogging in Coney Island, was savagely raped and beaten; unfortunately, her head injuries made her a poor witness. The police fingered five African-American men, four of whom spent 10 years in jail before someone else confessed to the crime. Now, the Coney Island Four, represented by lawyer and corrupt publicity hound Hugh Louis. plan to sue the city $250 million.
