In the Philippines during the Marcos regime, 8-year-old Bong is sent away for safety`s sake to Los Angeles, to live with his Auntie Yuna, whose major activity seems to be getting drunk and writing letters to defunct celebrities. Eventually, Bong is rescued by the child welfare services and placed with a wealthy foster family--who have their own dark secrets. In later life, he desperately tries to reconnect with his own parents back in the Philippines. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.
