By the time Lil was eight years old she had read every book in the children's section of the local library, so it's no surprise that when she grows up, Lil becomes a librarian. When Lil gets her first job, she is disappointed to discover that the people in the town where she works would rather watch TV than read. It takes a fierce storm (which knocks out all the power) and Lil's own determination to get the townspeople reading. Still, Lil meets her toughest challenge when a book-hating motorcycle gang comes to town. When the gang leader discovers that people have given up television for books, and he can't watch his favorite wrestling program, he gets very angry. Luckily strong, smart Lil knows just how to save the day. The colorful illustrations were created using ink and pencil line and watercolor washes. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only.
