Of most interest to Crumb fans is the inclusion of the first two issues of Crumb's only solo title of the decade,Hup, from 1987. The last few years of the decade was an unusually fertile period for Crumb both artistically and quantitatively. After Crumb handed over the editorial chores of his ownWeirdo magazine to cartoonist Peter Bagge, Crumb produced three issues ofHup by the end of the decade and continued to contribute toWeirdo.
Hup is considered by many to be amongst Crumb's very best comic titles, featuring the artist at his most misanthropic and satirical.
