In her tow comes her brother, Morris Morgan, a bookworm with a secret past who, when the school teacher elopes with a traveling preacher, takes charge of the local schoolhouse. These two extraordinary characters, along with a massive irrigation project, transform the small Montana town in ways both minor and profound.
